This dog was scraping by with whatever he could scrounge up on the streets. He was a skinny, fur-matted and heavily soiled dog when he was found. Starving and about as uncomfortable in your own flea ridden fur as you can get, this little fella was in very bad shape until his owner Ivy Diep found him, and took him in.
Ivy apparently has made it her mission to not only rescue this dog, but do so in the most epic fashion possible. She has clearly transformed the once dirty pooch into one of the cutest little canines in Los Angeles.
He’s also becoming one of the most well known foodies in the city as well. Ivy apparently wanted to make up for all those rotten street meals, not to mention all the missed meals, this little guy had to suffer through. So she now takes him to all the best pet-friendly restaurants in the town!
She wasn’t looking for another dog, but couldn’t resist Popeye, especially since no one else seemed to want the matted mess of a fella.
Here’s Ivy explaining how it went after she brought Popeye home, and how his social media “foodie” fame came to be:
“It wasn’t long before he made himself at home at my place with my other dogs. And of course, my husband and I fell in love [with him]. One of my friends, Jen, suggested that I create an Instagram account for Popeye because he was cute. Jen and I liked to go on what we call ‘Instagram dates’ and take pics of our food. I’d bring Popeye any time I can, and we realized he was really good around food. He doesn’t lunge for food or really even care for it. He just liked to be out. He’ll get nibbles of anything that’s safe for him. I also carry a bag of treats for him, in case there’s nothing he can have.”
Well, 108k followers on Instagram later, it’s safe to say Popeye has gone from the streets to stardom!
