Across Oklahoma, police officers and their canine companions made the trek to pay respect to a 3-year-old K-9 police dog named Kye.
He was killed in the line of duty and received full honors at the funeral. Kye attempted to take a burglary suspect down and ended up being stabbed multiple times. The dog then went into cardiac arrest at the scene in Oklahoma City.
Sgt. Ryan Stark was his handler and partner at the Oklahoma City Police Department. They worked together for 2 years. Stark, the 13-year-veteran officer, proceeded to shoot the suspect fatally. It was the first time a police dog was killed in Oklahoma City from a chase.
Stark was clearly shook up as you’ll see in the photos. Not only a partner, but indeed Kye was his best friend.
